DESCRIPTION:Workshop FPGA Introduction\n Agenda:\n\nPresentation of FPGA te
 chnology\nGetting started with the design tools\nVerilog introduction\nHan
ds-on: basic functions + implementation of a small audio generator or LED
 blinker\nSimulation techniques\nVHDL overview for those who wish\nWorkshop
language will be English.\n\nPrerequisites\n\nSuitable for FPGA beginners
\nBring your laptop\, preferably with Linux. Try to get one with a good sc
reen resolution\, lots of RAM\, at least 2GB of free disk space and a fast
CPU\, as the FPGA tools are pretty resource-intensive. Also\, the FPGA to
ols are x86 only.\nBring an FPGA board with some LEDs and switches. Any ma
 nufacturer (Altera\, Xilinx\, Lattice\, ...) . There will be some spare bo
ards\, but try to bring more/your own.\nBring any required JTAG or power s
upply cables.\nIMPORTANT: Install programming software from the FPGA manuf
acturer. For Xilinx boards\, you can download "ISE Webpack". Warning! Big
files and slow installation.\nSuggested boards\nYou can (and should) bring
your own board if you already have one\, but if you plan on buying one he
re are some suggestions:\n\nSpartan 3A Evaluation Kit ($49) with PSoC / JT
AG cable not required. For programming this one\, check out http://code.go
 ogle.com/p/avs3a/.\nSpartan-6 FPGA SP601 Evaluation Kit ($295) / JTAG cabl
e not required. The latest FPGAs from Xilinx.\nSpartan 3E Starter Kit ($14
 9) / JTAG cable not required\nSpartan 3A Starter Kit ($189) / JTAG cable i
ncluded\nAvailable boards\nI will bring two Milkymist One boards (maybe a
dozen if we have manufactured them on time)\, and one Xilinx ML401 board f
or participants who don't have their FPGA board. Several participants can
share one board\, and designs can also be simulated.\n\n\n\nSee also my pr
